35th America Cup Schedule

There was a lot of excitement about the America’s Cup whose final lap was taking place in Japan this weekend.

Indeed, it was one of the world class sailing events to take place in this part of Asia. As a result, media and fans focused on this event to a large extent. With the final stage being held here, there was much anticipation as to how the events would unfurl here.

With the finals having taken place already, the competitors have their eyes set on the upcoming 35^th event of America’s Cup which is a World Series of high standard. The schedule for the same has been confirmed recently. Though the final lap of this year’s event was held in the chilling waters of Japan, the initial rounds and qualifier events would take place in the warmer waters of Bermuda. The schedule for 2017 includes a calendar of the events that would be held. The first lap of the next year’s event will take place from May 26^th and will end around June 27^th. Magnetic Island Race Week Sees Champagne Sailing

The 10^th edition of the Magnetic Island Race Week has kick started on 1^st September 2016 in North Queensland. Everyone taking part in the event was in a celebratory mood. We saw Pommery champagne flowing on Matt Pireet’s boat named ‘Champagne” and glasses were given to the people on the rail. Everyone was happy and they enjoy the scenery and the sip of the champagne.

The Ron Knott’s team on the Callista was enjoying a song sung by their crew member. The ladies on the local boat Soul Sister were seen having a lot of fun on their boat. Junior Sail Program of Michigan City Yacht Club

Washington Park Marina’s Michigan City Yacht Club is again putting up the Michigan City Yacht Club Junior Sail Program. The event is for children ages 8 and older. It is planned to teach the skills required to race and sail. Classes are made-to-measure to the age as well as ability of each student stressing the fun of sailing.

New sailors are advocated to be comfortable on the water and under sail. Advanced (as well as Intermediates) students come to know the finer points of boat handling as well as racing maneuver. The event encourages young people to stay in the game of sailing following their dinghy days.

Students are taught in Opti’s, international youth training as well as one design race boat. Students with their very own yacht can be instructed in that. Advanced students would also get instruction on Club Rigged 420s. The sailing program offers 6 separate morning as well as afternoon sessions beginning on 14th June, 28th June, and 19th July. The classes will happen regularly from Tuesday through Friday, except 4th of July. Classes will start from 9 am. to noon and then 1 pm to 4 pm.

The drape was officially elevated on the much anticipated Extreme Sailing Series 2016 today in the town of Muscat, Oman, along with the all new breed of hydro-foiling GC32 catamarans more than living up to the pre-season hoopla.

With a racecourse fixed against the magnificent backdrop of Al Alam Royal Castle in Muttrah Port as well as the surrounding mountains, any pre-season nerves were truly shaken off over 6 fast-paced races, which saw the fleet totally airborne on their foils in 14 – 18 knots, as the event literally flew into their tenth season.
